Log

The Book is an ambitious short. The story takes place in a single location in the woods, but it was shot in a studio.  We constructed a full practical woods set and used green screen techniques for set extension in post.

We were beset by some technique problems and it required no less than three Red EPICs to complete the shoot. Turns out, good ol RED had released a bad firmware just prior to the shoot and that killed two of the Epics. We only had one backup, but luckily Bad Dog came through and rented us a third on the spot.

We've been in post for almost two years now. Which may seem like a looooon time... but keep in mind that every single frame of this film a visual effect. We've made significant progress and hope to warp it up in the fall of this year.

PENDING RELEASE SCHEDULE

Log

One Minute is an experimental short. Here we were experimenting with the horror genre and where we had to carefully play with dark and shadows. Even though The Book was shot in a dark seeming environment, we here we had to carefully control the balance of light so things could lurk and emerge from shadow. This turns out to be harder than it seems.

Emma Ve stars as the Frightened Girl and Tim Rank as the Shadow.

Post production is now complete and we are working on our release plans.

Trapped

48 Hour Film Project (2014)

Produced by our Imaginary Banana 48HFP Team
Directed by David Whatley
Cinematography by Jay Kelley

Trapped was our 2014 48HFP entry.  A great year for team building as we added a lot of high-end filmmaking talent to the team. including Jay Kelly and Mathew Scott.

Overall, a good effort that got a lot of attention. We failed to finish on time due to a tactical error in how we handled sound which cost us hours in post.  But the results were worth it.
